Bipolar Explorer are an NYC-based experimental dreampop trio featuring Summer Serafin
(vocals, spoken word), Michael Serafin-Wells (guitars, vocals, bass, organ, synth, melodica, tape
loops, percussion, spoken word) and Sylvia Solanas (spoken word – English/French).
Hailed by legendary BBC3/Soho Radio’s Max Reinhardt as “holy sonic icons” their work is an
eclectic blend of genres, weaving in strands of the ambient, the experimental, field recordings
sprinkled with instrumentation, a dash of guitar and vocal driven dreampop and a handful of
shoegaze-y underscored spoken word (with narrative poems Serafin-Wells composes for
inclusion) that the UK’s Norman Records has called “a cross between Slowdive and Laurie
Anderson – a late night radio transmission drifting to us, half asleep in bed”.
The band are currently at work on their 12th studio album, expected to release later this year on
NYC’s Slugg Records.
